This year the Blessing of the Animals will not be on a Saturday. It will be Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM we will have the blessing of animals in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. * YEAR OF FAITHYEAR OF FAITH
YEAR OF FAITH: Oct .11, 2012 - Nov. 24, 2013
The Year of Faith was announced by Pope Benedict XVI last year in his apostolic letter Porta Fidei. It will begin on October 11, 2012, the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council. It also coincides with the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The year will end on November 24, 2013, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King. During the Year of Faith, Catholics are asked to study and reflect on the documents of Vatican II and the catechism so that they may deepen their knowledge of the faith.
We will join with hundreds of Catholic churches across the country to initiate The Year of Faith by ringing our church bells for three minutes at 12 noon on Thursday, October 11, 2012.
